4149 Beta Product Update #12

Proactive mode, memos, tasks, reflections, and so much more!

Hey everyone — we’re excited to bring you the next major update to 4149 which we’ve been working on since January.

The star of the show here is Proactive Mode — which when turned on gives your AI teammate the ability to start assigning themselves tasks all on their own.

We’ve baked in a slew of new tasks that make every AI teammate useful out of the box from day one.

In addition, we’re excited to roll out the next iteration of our Blueprint editor which gives anyone the ability to not just modify how their 4149 performs tasks but also define their own custom ones. No coding required!

Lastly, we have expanded the number of app and data connectors available, refined the QA functionality, and squashed a good deal of bugs.

Read on below for a more detailed overview of these updates and stay tuned for more deep dives in the coming weeks.

Till next time!

New Capabilities

Proactive Mode allows your AI teammate to reflect on the topics your team discussed in chats and on calls. These reflections give them the ability to proactively decide what tasks to work on in order to help your team reach their next milestone. See demo @ 00:18

If your AI teammates was created before April, you’ll need to opt-in to proactive mode. New AI teammates will be proactive by default.

  1. Click on your AI teammate’s avatar

  2. Find the ‘Autonomous Level’ setting

  3. Switch from ‘manual’ to ‘proactive’

Memos keep the entire team informed and aligned on what everyone has completed and what they’re currently working on — including your AI teammate’s proactive contributions. Switching on Proactive Mode also enables Memos. See demo @ 01:52

Reflections are how your AI teammate organizes the things they’ve learned about your team and the work they’re doing. Current reflections include Team Info, Goals, Challenges, Product, Values, Quotes, Tasks, Events, Decisions, Ideas, and Learn More About. See demo @ 05:08

Improvements

More Blueprints have been added. Blueprints are our no-code framework for customizing tasks. Read the prompts for each by selecting a Blueprint, then going into the Builder. There you’ll see the blocks used that outline how your AI teammate should execute each part of a task. See demo @ 12:00

QA Data Source Selection is even smarter. New data source selection methods surface more relevant information for all question. We’ve also improved the way your AI teammate cites sources so that you always can check and verify the answers. See demo @ 18:08

QA From Anywhere. Whether you’re in a Slack channel, a Google Doc comment, or a Zoom chat just ask your question and mention your AI teammate. They’ll respond with the same information regardless of what app you’re working in.

Dedicated QA Threads allow you to refine a specific set of data sources to focus AI teammate. Setup your thread once and reuse it whenever you need to probe deep into a subject.

API Data Connectors have been added to the list of data sources. This can supplement the context with which your AI teammate reasons by letting it directly get information from news APIs, service APIs like Salesforce, and even your own internal APIs. See demo @ 16:38

Apps Page has been moved into the sidebar so that it is always accessible. Here you can manage the apps your AI teammate uses and what data it has access to from those apps (e.g. folders, channels, pages, etc.)

Citations & Sources are now surfaced for tasks and docs to clarify what information your AI teammate referenced when performing a task. These breadcrumbs are to help you understand how information is used, as well as, help you navigate complex relationships between docs. See demo @ 05:28

Known Gotchas

Conversational Instructions for starting new tasks is not here yet. We’re working hard to bring you even more powerful in-app interactions.

Multiple AI Teammates on Calls are not yet supported. When multiple different AI teammates join a call they act as one participant but the visuals do not properly reflect that. This is a known bug which we are fixing.

Updating Doc Names When you update a document title some related docs do not update. We’re aware and will be updating this.

That’s it for now! Thank you for being awesome and making it to the bottom of the page. Enjoy the new week!
